The summer design studio called for the introduction of a new threshold to the universities Architecture and Design Building. With a few short weeks, digital methodologies were explored. The system responds to building forces and influenced directionality toward building administration upon entry into the building. The installation was also intended to capitalize on unique sun lighting conditions caused by a deep west facing roof overhang.

Concrete block unit to create a structural screening system.
Block unit was designed for multiple orientations, to allow for a variety of arrangements.
Mold was created by analyzing a form at 1/8″ planar incraments, laser cutting each level and stacking the layers.
Form-work was split to allow release of casts.
Analyzing a double curved surface and extracting information to construct its wire frame.
